Types of Knee Pain

Osteoarthritis was once thought to be a result of ‘wear and tear,’ suggesting that joint use leads to faster deterioration. However, research shows that being more active actually contributes to healthier joints over time compared to inactive populations. Our modern approach to osteoarthritis focuses on settling immediate pain and then methodically and safely challenging the collagen-based cartilage and ligaments to become stronger, more flexible and tougher, leading to remarkable improvements in pain relief, function, and quality of life.

Ligament injuries, such as ACL or MCL tears, can significantly impact knee stability and function. Our physiotherapy treatments include targeted exercises, manual therapy, and rehabilitation programmes to restore stability and strength. We are very experienced in all kinds of sports injuries that can lead to these kind of injuries, and our state of the art rehab suite has all the equipment you’ll need to restore full function, no matter what level you’re returning to.

Meniscal tears can cause pain, swelling, and restricted movement in the knee. We offer comprehensive care to reduce symptoms and enhance recovery through tailored rehabilitation plans. Rehab-based Physiotherapy is the gold-standard for managing meniscus injuries and we use evidence-based methods to reduce pain, maximise healing and build towards resolution of symptoms as quickly as possible.

This condition, often referred to as ‘runner’s knee,’ involves pain around the kneecap. We address this with specific exercises to improve knee alignment, strength, and flexibility. Whilst it can be a stubborn issue, graded and methodical strengthening and loading is highly effective at restoring full function, and we have consistently fantastic results.

Tendonitis, or inflammation of the tendons around the knee, can cause significant pain and discomfort. Our treatments focus on reducing inflammation, promoting healing, and preventing recurrence through targeted exercises and manual therapy.
